BY POPULAR DEMAND
After posting about The Tramp, I had numerous requests for a post on Miss Truvy. I originally posted about her over a year ago so I'm doing my very first repost. Enjoy!
Meet Miss Truvy. We rescued each other seven years ago from the DC Animal Shelter. When we met she immediately started wagging her tail and licking my hand. It was a great introduction but I wanted to mingle. When I cam back to her, she had just eaten and was curled up in a ball with the sweetest look on her face. In all that madness and noise she was sleeping peacefully. I new then we were meant for each other. My friends always say that she won the puppy lottery that day, but I say we both won.
Truvy has won the gold ribbon at the DC Pride of Pets twice for Most Mysterious Heritage. When people ask what kind of dog she is I always answer, "The Best Kind." Truvy is full of energy, tons of personality and always makes eye contact - like she's trying to bend me to her will. It's very effective. She loves to cuddle and is pictured here comforting my sick nephew.
Truvy is an alfa. In fact, she's an alfa among alfas. My last bf had a beautiful yellow lab who was also an alpha and Truvy, all 20 pounds of her, would totally control 70 pound Quincy. She would chase her, take the tennis ball out of her mouth, play tug-of-war until Quincy gave up and every few days would climb up on Quincy's back and start humping her. We knew that Truvy was showing Quincy her dominance but we used to joke that Quincy was thinking, "Ahh, just a little more to the left."

HE'S A TRAMP AND I LOVE HIM
| I love this pic of Tramp. When he get's his summer cut, it reveals the black stripe down his back - it makes him even cuter. |
Tramp came into my life close to sevens years ago now. It was a stormy night and my mom was trying to get the Thanksgiving groceries into the house without getting totally drenched when she looked down there was this soaked but adorable dog. Tramp, as he would become known, started jumping on my mom with his tail wagging a mile a minute.
My mom didn't have the heart to send Tramp back into the storm and decided she'd care for him while trying to find his owners. This was fine with my 7 year old nephew who wanted a dog of his own. Christopher bathed Tramp, walked and fed him and spent too much time playing and falling in love with him. Asking people in the neighborhood, calling the shelter and placing an ad didn't find Tramp's owners. It was decided that Christopher would get Tramp for Christmas.
I came home for the holidays and having heard all about Tramp. On the night of the 23rd, I had just walked Tamp and my dog Truvy and as I was taking of their leashes, Tramp pushed the door open and was gone like a shot. This wasn't the first time Tramp had made a break for it, he had taken off several times but my nephew was always able to catch him. I chased after him for over a mile but every time I got close , he'd just sprint away. I knew I had just broken my nephew's heart and dreams and ruined his Christmas.
| But I also love his summer cut. (taken the same day as above) |
We searched the neighborhood, checked the shelters and eventually placed an ad. Nothing. Then, one day, about a month after Tramp took off, we got a call. This college kid had found Tramp and like us, had taken care of him will trying to find his owners. It turns out, he had found Tramp's owners but didn't like them. He said that they seemed disappointed to have Tramp returned and he felt bad leaving him there. After speaking with my mom, they came up with a plan for him to go to the house and ask them if he could take Tramp because he had really grown attached to him. They said yes instantly. Unfortunately for my nephew, his grandfather (my sister's family lived in his house and cared for him) changed his mind and said no to Tramp.
I decided to adopt Tramp because I thought he'd be good company for Truvy. I was now single and Truvy, who was used to having a stay-at-home daddy and a big yellow lab for company while I was at work, was now single too. They got along great but Truvy is a true alfa dog and Tramp is more like a laid back surfer dude who really likes to chill out.
I named Tramp after the Tramp in Lady and the Tramp because of his desire to take off. It was the night I chased after him that I said, "If we ever get him back we should name him Tramp." After all these years, he'll still take off but I've come to the conclusion that he's not running away so much as he's running to something. He has grown much more affectionate, playful and loving.

JUST AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE
Carl and Bert, moved to Texas and Bert always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots, so, seeing some on sale, he bought them and wore them home.
Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his husband, 'Notice anything different about me?'
Carl looked him over. 'Nope.'
Frustrated, Bert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots.
Again he asked Carl, a little louder this time, 'Notice anything different NOW?'
Carl looked up and exclaimed, 'Bert, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow!'
Furious, Bert yelled, 'AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S HANGING DOWN, Carl?'
'Nope,' he replied.
'IT'S HANGING DOWN, BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!!!!'
Without changing his expression, Carl replied, 'Shoulda bought a hat, Bert. Shoulda bought a hat.'

MUG SHOT MONDAY
Since Tampa Bay was so popular last week I went back but choose the 31-35 age grouping and all I can say is that these people must have had a hard life because most of them look a lot older and have had what good looks they may have had ruined.
The best of the bunch and with the name to match - James Laycock.
He'd be so much more attractive if he didn't look so sad.
A young Tom Colicchio?
Turnaround bright eyes!
You have to spread the bronzer evenly and all the way to your hairline.
She's 31!!!
Oliver called, he needs his bowl back.
35!? And the stache isn't helping.
I bet he was cute not so long ago.

TORCHWOOD - THE NEW WORLD
This is exciting news. And since it's going to be on Starz, maybe we'll get lot's more John Barrowman flesh.
Starz has released an official synopsis for the new ten-part miniseries Torchwood, The New World:
When C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy, he finds himself unearthing a threat which challenges the entire human race. The answers seem to lie within an old, secret British institute, known only as Torchwood. But Torchwood was destroyed, years ago, and the keys to the institute are held by its only two survivors – former Police Officer Gwen Cooper, who has long since disappeared along with her husband and child, and the mysterious Captain Jack Harkness, a man whose history seems to stretch back centuries. With Rex under attack from all sides, in both the US and the UK, he soon discovers there are forces at work within every level of society, determined to stop Torchwood's return. As a chain of events across the world links together the most disparate and unlikely individuals – including a surgeon, a killer, senators and CEOs – a new Torchwood team takes shape. But this time, the threat is much closer to home, as they realize that their greatest enemy is mankind itself...
And here's a description of the miniseries's new major character, CIA agent Rex Matheson:
He's 28, the golden boy. Has been, all his life. Harvard education, fast-tracker in the C.I.A., destined for success. Though he's never taken it easy – Rex hustles, seduces and campaigns to get where he is today. He can talk his way into anything, then charm his way out, fast. He's made a lot of enemies, but his friends and lovers would defend him to death. His choice of career is significant. Someone like Rex could make a fortune in Wall Street, or Hollywood. But choosing the C.I.A. says a lot about him: that for all his swagger, he does believe in justice. And will fight for it.Slowly but surely, we see him make friends. He's thrown together a bunch of people known as Torchwood, the only people who might have the answer to a global mystery. To Rex, at first, they're a bunch of freaks. Welsh women and World War 2 Captains, what's that about?! But as they race from one crisis to another, dodging assassins, blackmail, corruption and conspiracy, from Washington to Wales and the slums of Shanghai, Rex forges friendships in the heat of fire. He learns to trust his new colleagues. And they realize that this dangerous, dazzling, reckless man is the best friend they could ever have, in a world going to hell. They frighten us, men like Rex. We wish we were him; we never will be.
The press release also suggests what brought Captain Jack back to Earth is the only thing that possibly could: "his undying love for Gwen Cooper." Which, to be perfectly honest, I had almost forgotten was ever a thing in the series in the first place. [SpoilerTV]
Hmmm...John Barrowman!
