I thought Rugby would be way more popular. It is way more exciting to watch, more popular (outside the US) and the players tend to loose their shorts. A LOT!

You should check out Aussie Rules Football, it mixes the best of Rugby and Wraslin, and rumour has it a lot of the players are Gay, WIN WIN WIN! ;)
